    Update: Teachers will send emails to families to receive the google classroom code for the students whose registration is complete. Office is still verifying registrations. Note: We had to open a first grade classroom due to increasing enrollment, and we are working on adding those students to a google classroom as soon as possible. 
     
    Please check your emails and if you have not received a google classroom code please log into Parent Vue and you can email the assigned teacher by clicking on schedule on the left hand side of your parent vue. 
     
    You should also receive the teacher's schedule. 
     
    Tomorrow, virtual school begins at 8:30am and from August 17th to August 21st the schedules will be a minimim days schedule.

     Hola familias de OVHS:

    Actualización: los maestros enviarán correos electrónicos o mensaje de class dojo a las familias para recibir el código de clase de Google para los estudiantes cuyo registro esté completo. Nota: Tuvimos que abrir un aula de primer grado debido al aumento de inscripciones, y estamos trabajando para agregar a esos estudiantes al salon de Google lo antes posible.

    Dear Families:

     

    Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!   We would like to remind you that classes begin on Monday, August 17th with distance learning.  The theme of our year is “Together & Juntos.”  We will work together to make sure that school can feel as normal as possible during these challenging times of the pandemic. We would like to share some information with  you:

    Class assignments will be available beginning Thursday, August 13th using the “Parent Vue” component of Synergy.  Synergy is the program that you used to process your student’s registration.  You will use the same log in/password to get Parent Vue (http://parentvue.sysdschools.org)  where you will see your child’s classroom assignment. Click on schedule.  Contact our office clerks if you need  if you need support with your student’s login and student identification number.

    Message from August 10th

     

    Hello OVHS Families:

    You have been receiving a lot of emails from the school district and these are just reminders of important events this week:

    1) Chromebook distribution - these are for all students pre-school -8th grade who did not receive a laptop at the end of the year. However, you must be enrolled to receive one. If you have not enrolled your student, please do so as soon as possible: https://www.sysdschools.org/Page/1057
    Distribution will be a Vista Del Mar Middle School on August 10th and August 11th from 9am-11am and 2pm-5pm. Also at Willow Elementary on August 13th from 9am-11pm and August 14th 2pm-5pm.

    2) Registrations are still getting approved. Please check your email (including spam) just in case you received an email from our office staff or health clerks.

    3) Classroom placements will be input this week and we will send a classdojo and email notification of when they are ready to view. You will be able to view your child's classroom placement by logging onto your ParentVue. If you have not registered or your registration is incomplete, you will not be able to view the classroom placement. If you have any questions for our office staff please email them:

    4) If you are completely registered you should receive a google invite to your child's google classroom by this Thursday 8/13 or Friday 8/14. Instructions on how to log on to your google classroom will also be given this week.

    5) Student instructional material for distance learning will be distributed starting on August 18th by grade level. We will send out the schedule by the end of this week as well. Yearbooks and Spring Lifetouch Pictures will also be distributed on the days that we distribute instructional material.

    Good Morning OVHS Families:

    This week, August 3rd-August 7th, the OVHS campus is still closed, but the office helpline will be open from 9am-1pm each day. Helpline: 619-661-0457.

    Please check your email for an informational email that was sent today from OVHS.

    There is also an important Parent Survey that was sent by the district and that closes today, August 3rd.

    • If you have not enrolled your child for the 20-21 school year, please do so today. Important decisions are made based on projected enrollment numbers.
    • When replying or emailing our office staff, please include your child's information. 
    • If you selected to "deliver the proof of residency",  ensure you scan the documents and email to the office staff that corresponds to that grade level (emails are on this document below). 
    • For PreK students, if they are general education, pelase select CDC as the school. 
    • Please make sure to use the same parent/guardian name that you used last year. You will be allowed to upload all documents that are required (please try to save documents as a PDF file). If you are on a computer the Chrome server works best when registering.

    Step 2: Please email your request for Dual Language Kinder to elizabeth.moreno@sysdschools.org  On the subject window please write Request for Kinder Dual Language.

     

    Your child’s request will only be placed on the list once your registration is complete. Parents will be notified of students placement by the end of July.

    Dado que nuestra escuela está cerrada debido a COVID-19 y se deben seguir las pautas de distanciamiento social, el proceso de solicitud dual para kinder se realizará de la siguiente manera para el año académico escolar 2020-2021 de OVHS.

     

    Paso 1: complete el formulario de registro en línea. https://www.sysdschools.org/domain/740

    y subir todos los documentos de verificación. El sitio web del distrito tiene instrucciones paso a paso sobre cómo inscribir a su hijo nuevo o que regresa. 

     

    Paso 2: envíe su solicitud de Kinder Dual Language por correo electrónico a elizabeth.moreno@sysdschools.org.  En la ventana del asunto, escriba Request for Kinder Dual Language.

     

    La solicitud de su hijo solo se incluirá en la lista una vez que se complete su registro. Los padres serán notificados de la colocación de los estudiantes a fines de julio.

  • SCHOOL UNIFORM GUIDELINES

     

     School uniforms promote an environment of learning and help instill school pride. Use of appropriate attire enhances the educational process by emphasizing academics, achievement, and dignity. Complying with the uniform policy also allows school officials to better monitor a safe and secure school environment.

     

    • Uniform shirts will be navy blue, light blue or white polo/golf style shirts (short or long sleeves with a collar) or shirts that button down the front with a collar. No emblem, logo, decoration, or decorative trim.
    • Spirit shirt/club shirt may be worn on day/s determined by the school administrator.
    • Navy blue and khaki pants, skirts, shorts, skorts, or jumpers must be uniform style and color. 
    • Shorts and skorts must measure (front and back) no shorter than three inches above the knee and no longer than mid-knee. Skirts and jumpers must measure no shorter than three inches above the knee.
    • Belts should be black, brown, navy blue, or khaki with no emblem, logo or decoration and must be worn with slacks and shorts that are designed to have belt loops. Belts must be visible and worn around the waist. 
    • Belts are optional for pre-k, kindergarten, and first grade students.
    • Appropriate shoes must be worn and not include thongs. 
    • Sandals are not allowed

     

    Acceptable outerwear for classroom is limited to include:

      • Sweater, sweater vest, sweatshirt, and light jacket. During class time, jackets are to remain open, not zipped or buttoned. Colors for classroom outerwear include khaki, navy blue, gray, and white. 
      • Heavy coats and jackets worn to and from school and/or outdoors are not restricted, but recommended to colors of navy blue, white, khaki and hunter green.
      • No head wear shall be worn on campus

     

    The following items are not considered uniform:  blue jeans, sweatpants, no stretch pants or leggings, no spandex, no baggy pants, no bell-bottoms, no carpenter or cargo styles, no hip-huggers, no side-knee pockets). Emblems, logos, or decorations are not allowed.

    Principals may declare spirit or club days and allow students to wear school spirit shirts, or dress up days (i.e., when school pictures are scheduled) or allow students to wear other uniforms such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, cheerleaders, band, chorus, etc. Other questions about uniforms should be referred first to the school authorities, then to the central office staff.

     

    No student shall be denied attendance at school, penalized, or otherwise subject to disciplinary measures for failing to wear a school uniform.
