• Dear San Ysidro School District Families,

    As the 2018-19 school year comes to a close I would like to congratulate your child for their hard work and accomplishments in school this year!  Our district extends our most sincere gratitude to your family for supporting your child in school and for helping them realize their hopes and dreams.  It is an honor for our school district to bring to your child and family our vision providing a high quality, multicultural learning environment that promotes academic excellence, social responsibility and physical and emotional well-being for all students.”

    This school year may be characterized as a year of many notable achievements for our school district such as:

    • Our San Ysidro community of families, school district staff and community coming together as a united team to ensure the success of our children.  Here is the web link to our District Highlights on our website which showcase our district’s great work for students this 2018-19 school year.  Also, you can follow our district on FaceBook and Twitter at SYSDSchools and you can search #SYSDUnited & #SYSDUnidos to see the many wonderful school events we had this year!
    • Creation of the Pathways Program which provides after school sports, robotics, arts, cooking and more for all students within SYSD schools.  This first year of the Pathways Program about 1,500 students participated in the program!
    • Increased communication with families with newsletters, email messages, news articles, FaceBook posts, Twitter, phone calls and more!
    • Several Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals and actions achieved. The LCAP serves as our district’s strategic plan.
    • Commitment to dual language programs in our schools and the development of the district English Learner Master Plan
    • Launched a new district Bond Oversight Committee
    • Started a new Student Success Task Force to:
      • Create a districtwide Student Discipline Plan
      • Establish a districtwide Parent & Student Handbook
    • Creation of a district Safety Task Force to address community issues such as bullying, gangs, drugs, and alcohol
    • Willow Principal Manuel Bojorquez named as ACSA & CSBA Principal of the Year in both San Diego and Imperial counties!
    • Celebration of student, parent, staff and community success with Distinguished Champion Awards at our Board Meetings

    San Ysidro School District is offering a Seamless Summer Free Meal Program. Any child ages 1 to 18 can receive free breakfast and/or free lunch at Willow Elementary, Sunset Elementary or San Ysidro Middle School from June 17 - July 12.  Please see our detailed flyer in English and Spanish with details and serving times.

    Our district is offering a FREE Summer Intersession Program. The program is open to incoming kinder - 5th grade students and incoming 6th - 8th grade students. Weekly activities include field trips, guest speakers, STEAM activities, arts & crafts, cooperative games, sports and team building. Space is limited so please contact Nestor Muñoz, YMCA Quality Programs Coordinator, at 619-420-0041, ext. 18003 to see if room is available.  Complete information and registration forms can be found on our district web page at: 

    Please make sure your child is registered for school in the 2019-20 school year. The majority of our students are already enrolled online in our schools for this coming school year.  If your family has not yet registered or verified residency please visit our district website for registration information. School staffs are already creating classes for next year so the sooner you register your child for school the better. If you need assistance with the online registration process, please call or visit your child’s school or call the District’s Education Services Department at 619-428-4476, ext. 3078 and we will help register your child for school.
